The rhythmic call-and-response game baked into every Dice Game deck.
THE RHYTHM
Two smacks on the table, two claps. Repeat. Stay on the beat — drift off it and you drink.
THE PLAYERS
The roller is SUMI. Going left from Sumi, players are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4… Everyone keeps their number for the round.
THE FLOW
- 01 Run four warm-up rounds of the pattern to lock the tempo.
- 02 On the smacks, Sumi calls "SUMI SUMI". On the claps, Sumi calls a number — e.g. "FOUR FOUR".
- 03 On the next round of smacks, Player 4 calls their own number ("FOUR FOUR"), and on the claps passes to anyone — "TWO TWO".
- 04 Player 2 picks up the chain. And so on.
- 05 If a player passes back to "SUMI SUMI", the tempo speeds up — Sumi runs one warm-up loop at the new tempo, then calls the next number.
YOU DRINK IF…
- · You miss the rhythm.
- · You blank on your number when called.
- · You call a number that doesn't exist at the table.
- · You speed up or slow down without authority.
STRATEGY
Pass back to SUMI early to speed up the tempo before stronger players settle in. Or call high numbers to corner players who haven't been numbered yet — they freeze. The longer the round, the higher the casualty count.
